20 Nov - Happy Universal Children's Day

20112009 - Today is Universal Children's Day...

The year 2009 also mark the 20 years anniversary of The Convention On The Rights Of The Child, a treaty made in 1989 to make this world a better place for children, and to create a positive environment for them to grow up in.

They have their rights; they are entitled to food, education, health care, protection, etc - these are the society's responsibility!! Coming to think of it, are we really doing all we can to protect these little ones?

Abandoned babies, child abuse, kidnapping & murder, children deprived of food & education are always on the news nowadays! Its so sad when you come across these news :( Are these signs of moral decay in our society?

Children are the country's asset. They are our future. It is our duty to ensure every child is free from hunger, neglect & abuse. We should promote their welfare and uphold their human rights! Hope I can do my part for the community as well....

I miss my anak-anak.... =) hope they are doing well now....

FDC 3 - Energy Efficient Buildings

September - a month with so many FDC & Stamps issue. 09.09.09 - nice date =)

The uncontrolled emission of green house gas (namely carbon dioxide) is one of the main contributor to global warming. This problem has been addressed worldwide, and everyone is working hard to reduce the rate of CO2 emission and contribute towards a better environment.

According to the explanation on the sheet provided in this FDC, the Malaysia Government is currently promoting the development of energy efficient (EE) building to reduce the problem of global warming. The three EE buildings shown in the stamps are said to show the development of sustainable buildings in Malaysia.

1. LOW ENERGY OFFICE (LEO) BUILDING (50sen)
Kementerian Tenaga Teknologi Hijau dan Air @ Putrajaya

2. GREEN ENERGY OFFICE (GEO) BUILDING (30sen)
Pusat Tenaga Malaysia @ Bandar Baru Bangi
3. DIAMOND BUILDING (RM1)
Suruhanjaya Tenaga @ Putrajaya

The 1 Malaysia First Day Cover and stamps were issued on the 31st of August 2009 to commenmorate Malaysia's 52nd Independence Day & the 1 Malaysia concept - but I got it on 01.09.09 as the Post Office was closed on the 31st.

The illustration on the cover & stamps are so cute, symbolising all the different races in Malaysia. The theme is "1 MALAYSIA - RAKYAT DIDAHULUKAN, PENCAPAIAN DIUTAMAKAN"

Comments on the Personality Test Ques1

Your view on yourself: You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

Comments :
  • Down-to-earth? Yes, though maybe sometimes I can be too humble I can't and do not know how to reject & say "No" if someone asks for my help which is beyond my limit. If the favour is within my ability, I will definitely help, no doubt :)
  • Straightforward? Sometimes being straightforward is no good. Though I'm suppose to uphold a precept "Not to tell lies", but " 人在江湖,身不由己 ", but I will try to avoid it as best as I can. What about "善意的谎言", if telling the truth will hurt others?
  • Efficient problem solver? Yeah, but only for others. I have difficulty solving my own problems. I will be stuck at that particular problem, thinking about it day & night, sometimes until the stage where I have no appetite to eat! That's bad...

Personality Test

Your view on yourself:

You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:

You like to flirt and behave seductively. The opposite sex finds this very attractive, and that's why you'll always have admirers hanging off your arms. But how serious are you about choosing someone to be in a relationship with?

Your views on education

Education is less important than the real world out there, away from the classroom. Deep inside you want to start working, earning money and living on your own.

The right job for you:

You have many goals and want to achieve as much as you can. The jobs you enjoy are those that let you burn off your considerable excess energy.

How do you view success:

You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.

What are you most afraid of:

You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.

Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

Some are quite accurate though.. :P

On Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA), Kuantan

HTAA..just completed my dietetics clinical placement there..
this hospital has a significant impact in my life..
maybe i should jot this down before i forget..
life is impermanent, we wont know what will happen tomorrow :)

I'd been to HTAA for many many times..
tats y i know where are all the departments located (hehe..someone asked me..'why u know all the places, you used to despatch documents for the dietetics department izit?')
Nop, its not that..

1
When I was young (primary school age - Form 1/Form 2), my grandfather (Wai Gong) was often hospitalised in HTAA due to complications of his disease (Gastric ulcer i think). When its 5.30 pm, my parents would go to the hospital to visit him, me & my sisters would tag along. I still remember that it was always the 5th floor of the hospital.
Gong Gong passed away in HTAA in December 2000, just a few days before Christmas. I was there when he was about to leave, it was before midnight. I can still recall how the doctors and nurses tried to resuscitate him, and how the 'representatives' from the 'coffin shop' approached my uncle for business.

2
When I was in school, I was an active member of the St John Ambulance. During the end-of-year school holidays of Form 4, me & my cousin went for Hospital Duty in the A&E department of HTAA. We went for ambulance calls, helped the Medical Assistants in simple cases, took the patients' BP, temperature, blood glucose, and assist patients to the wards. Really gained lots of experience. I had 100+ hours of duty :)

3
For my Food Service practical, I went to HTAA as well because I like to be at home :) Good food + transport available.. This time in the Dietetics Department of HTAA.. I was there for 2 months.

4
Hoohoo..for my 10-weeks Clinical Placement recently, I did it in HTAA's Dietetics Department too..Really gained more knowledge & made more friends...

Ok..tats why I know HTAA so well .. =P

Worst day?

I thought i will have the time to write something before CNY..unfortunately i did not..
lack of time is one factor...but..
something cropped up before cny..n tats the worst day of my life
this year's celebration is just so-so, no mood - caused by that particular 'something'
i bet thats my karma... i must have did something very wrong in my past life..
Indeed..yes, its suffering..
And yes, i do believe in karma..
hope things will change for the better.. i'll pray hard....
